Drill a hole through both items. 5. Insert the long end of the pop rivet into the rivet gun. 6. Push the short, wider end of the rivet through the drilled holes in both materials. 7. Squeeze the trigger of the rivet gun a few times until you hear and feel a pop, indicating the mandrel of the rivet has been released and the two pieces are now firmly bonded. 8. Remove the clamp securing the objects.
